The designed landscape at Taymouth Castle dates from the mid-18th century and was once extensive and much admired, with parkland, walks and many follies.
The remnants of a mid-19th-century arboretum survive. A public footpath runs through it. It was planted along the Loch shore. (Starts west of the Kenmore Club, Kenmore. Runs between the Loch and the A827 to the Historic landscape boundary).
The last survey (2002) noted a Wellingtonia still stands over 148' high, planted only a year after it was introduced in 1853.
In 1982, 23 conifers were measured, of 15 species only four were under 100'. It was noted, as there has been little maintenance for the last 30 years, sycamore seedlings have taken over and the arboretum is a tangle of undergrowth and fallen trees.
